2026, Two screen video installation with sound, 4K video, 40 min

The project depicts the old and rarely performed Chinese art of hanging by the hair and was filmed live in front of an audience in Tårnsalen at KODE in November 2025.
Hair has long been a symbol of female identity, beauty and femininity, but also an object of regulation and control. Hair also represents liberation, sexuality and power, and carries a dual meaning: as an extension of the body, it can symbolise both vulnerability and the potential for violence.
The work focuses on the long preparations the woman undertakes in order to be able to hang by her hair. We see only a glimpse of the climax—the spectacular act of hanging by the hair.
